MORE ABOUT ME
A proud mum to a teenage son, I make the best of life! I love travelling, keeping up with current events, good dramas, music, boating, my daily beach walk and reading. I'm mad about my crazy spaniel, who keeps me fit. I keep planning to start sea swimming, so watch this space! I eat a plant-based diet and try to live and work as ecologically as possible. I have a big, beardy boyfriend whom one day I'll marry on the beach (once he retires to Cornwall!)
For over 26 years in London, Venezuela, Beijing, Hong Kong and in Wiltshire, I was an English teacher/lecturer and personal tutor to adults and children. I loved the pastoral, caring aspects of my job, so helping people is really rewarding as a Celebrant. My teaching years gave me masses of experience of writing and presenting.
In addition to being a qualified, award-winning Celebrant, I hold a BA(Hons) and a Teaching Degree from the University of London, plus an MA (Distinction) in English from Oxford Brookes University. So, I'm pretty creative with words and literature...!
The wonderful Fellowship of Professional Celebrant trained me in 2016, in Sarum College, Salisbury. Keeping up with new developments and trends with constant advice, training and updates is important to me, and I often mentor new Celebrants.
I embrace people from all creeds, orientations and cultures. I mention in my Wedding page being my good friends when they married in one of the first legal gay weddings in Canada in 2004, but I also was invited to be a bridesmaid in Nigeria for my best male friend, and attended another good friend's stunning Hindu ceremony in Mumbai. I have so many friends from all over the world and my own family is a mix of races, beliefs and orientations.
From an Irish family (and conceived in Ireland!) I was brought up 'upcountry' in Wiltshire by my amazing Irish, singing mum, who sadly is no longer with us. I eventually moved to live near my Cornish family and friends and feel TOTALLY at home in friendly, chilled Falmouth.
Having had SO many challenges in my life, I empathise and work supportively with clients in difficult situations. An eternal optimist, though, I see the fun and joy in every situation: I love to live life to the full and I laugh a LOT! Cornwall Celebrant | Wedding Celebrant Cornwall
