CORNWALL & DEVON CEREMONIES
Getting to know my clients is key to my truly gorgeous, laid-back and personalised ‘from scratch’ ceremonies – it’s also fun!
Having a Celebrant you connect with as a friend makes your big day feel more meaningful. As I’ll be firing you a HEAP of questions, here’s a bit about me …
A Celt, with Irish, Spanish and Welsh heritage, I also have West Indian, Australian and English family. I’m ‘Ma’ to a gorgeous teen and finally married my silly, soft-hearted beardy in 2023; he calls me ‘the eternal optimist’ in spite of my occasional arsy-ness!
Travelling, eating(!), good dramas, music, reading, comedy and a daily beach walk are my loves. I was into Techno and a nightclub DJ back in the day, and even sang in a band. I still love gigs and festivals.
My mad cocker spaniel keeps me fit and laughing out loud every single day. I’m loopy about him! Actually, I absolutely love animals of all kinds.
I eat a vegan diet and live and work as sustainably as possible. Although I’ve been through the mill in life, I’m alive thanks to a gifted kidney, so I’m recycling personified and very into staying healthy!
My qualifications include a BA (Hons) in English Literature and an MA (Distinction) in Irish Poetry, so I am great with readings, poetry and writing.
26 years of teaching and lecturing English in London, Venezuela, Beijing, Hong Kong and Wiltshire mean I’m hugely experienced in planning, organising and presenting, as well as pastoral care and support.
These all are massively useful Celebrant skills not covered much on shorter Celebrant courses!
Since training in 2016 with the award-winning Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, I regularly update my skills and willingly mentor colleagues.
Many talented fellow Celebrants are friends of mine – we cover each other’s backs and share good practice. This offers clients security too.
I’m also a qualified Aromatherapist, so essential oils can be a lovely part of any ceremony – just ask me!
It’s been a total honour to be given both South West and UK Best Celebrant Awards from the most respected Industry bodies (TWIA and Guides For Brides). These awards were the direct result of brilliant client reviews, for which I’m so thankful.
I embrace all colours, creeds, orientations, neurological needs, races and cultures with open arms and zero judgement.
Truly, I love people and their ‘stories’ – which I LOVE to research and recall (often hilariously, with me giggling too!) in a whole range of ceremonies.
I’m more spiritual than religious and – as an Independent Celebrant – I work happily with those of any or no belief.
Born just weeks after my family moved to Wiltshire from County Down, (Northern) Ireland, I was raised with my immediate brother and sister. This is a photo with our beautiful mum, Josie, a fantastic Irish singer. As the eldest of five children, with two sisters via my birth father and a brother via my step-father, I’m very much part of a blended family!
The black and white photo is my brother and me with our lovely Nana, Ethel, on our first ever trip to the seaside. Don’t we look thrilled that the tide was out in Weston-Super-Mare? Not so ‘Super’ that day!
Thankfully, the sea is always nearby in Falmouth, a town which is fun, friendly and vibrant… a bit like me! Living in Celtic Cornwall is fabulous although I still love a trip ‘Up Country’ from time to time.
